SERVES 5

Serving Size: 300g

Wheat Mix
Wheat (Durum) 50g
Barley 50g
Oats 25g
Moong Dhaal 1tbsp
Masoor Dhaal 1 tbsp
Chana Dhaal 1 tbsp
Rice 1 tbsp

Onions (diced) 1 medium onion
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 heaped tbsp
Green Chili (minced) 1 chili
Red Chili Powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder 1 tbsp
Cumin Powder 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder 1 tbsp
Haleem Powder 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
Curry Leaves 1 sprig
Bay Leaves 2 pcs
Salt 2g
Oil 1 tbsp
Water 1.5L

Haleem Powder
Cinnamon  ½ inch
Cardamom 5 pcs
Black Pepper 10 pcs
All Spice 3g
Nutmeg ¼ pc
Mace 1 small pc
Clove 2 cloves
Mango Powder 1 tsp
 

 

DIRECTIONS

  • Pressure cook wheat mix with 4 cups of water for 45 minutes. Once done, cover & set aside in a bowl.
  • In a large pot over medium flame, add 10g of oil.
  • Add the sliced onions to this mix & sauté until golden brown. Transfer onions to a food processor & process until a thick paste is formed. Set aside.
  • In the same pot, add the cumin seeds. After 30 seconds, add ginger garlic paste, onion paste & the green chili. Mix for 1 minute.
  • Add the chili, cumin, coriander & turmeric powder to this mix.
  • Pour 200mL of water & stir well for 1 minute.
  • Once the water starts simmering, add the wheat mix into pot.
  • Add 1bsp of the Haleem Powder to the pot & mix until fully incorporated.
  • Mix the contents of the pot for 10 minutes to reach a smooth texture.
  • Serve warm with coriander as garnish.

TIPS

  • If Haleem Powder is not available, you can make your own! Blend these ingredients in a food processor, and store in a cool dry container.
